Aloha Hat People

I really should wear a hat when I am working outside. As you can see did get quite red from the day before. Since it has been unbearably hot and we are at 5000 feet it makes for a bad weather cocktail to survive. Getting things done means getting out there at 5:30 am work till 9 and then move to indoor work. By 5:30 pm you can go back outside but by then you have other obligations.

So Chris' garden in this horrible weather is doing pretty good. He was disillusioned and then things started to come together. Really growing here is so sketchy so anything is a good thing.Next year we have to start earlier!!

My ridge cap on the studio is complete as well and we should be expecting a solar light delivered soon. I have to finish painting and landscaping the front of the studio. This would include a path. So tomorrow I will be wearing the hat or suffer. :)

Yoga Army Dudes

So I purchased this display of green army guys doing yoga. Totally a frivolous buy, but they brought a smile to my face. With so much negativity going on due to election, fire, stupidity etc.. I seem to need some relief. 

So for a few dollars I got this crazy group of guys and they come with a display case. I am sure I will get a weird look from my family and here I am trying to save no make money. 

I am a buyer not seller today.

In the cornfield...

Yesterday was Christophers birthday and we were having our regular on the fly contractor over. So the goal for them was get the fencing 

completed and they did. At the end, it was a labor of love and although

We got the fencing for free it cost us about $120 to have someone build it with Chris. Which wasn't bad, but in my mind we would do the whole thing for sweat. That' s alright. Now it is complete with swinging entrance and the whole nine yards. 

As for me the shed is an exploration in painting. 

I have never done such a complicated endeavor inside and out. Usually it is an outside surface and I am mindlessly going through the motions. But it is an inside out entire. 

Complete with my array of Ruassian Sage in my Greek olive baskets. We sat on the kids bear picnic table with our contractor and perused the completion of so many projects. 

So today is Sunday and while I will be off the hill delivering furniture with a friend in disgusting Bakersfield, Chris can finally enjoy his handiwork.

And so it goes...up

So it went up. I needed the doors or windows, mostly the doors but that is alright. A lot of activity this weekend. Besides two days of building, my neighbors on either side had a flood of activity. Growing, building, doing.... Erick has the limitless garage of goodies and Lee and Kathy have the buildings, doing, making things great bug. 

It is all good and if your contractor and significant other are exhausted from two days of builduiing and are trying to wrap it up. Nothing like a bunch of people over and the dogs to make it more joyous. It is all an occasion for him to adapt. Lol

So the goal is to bring more buckets home and try to get through them too determine what is what. All very time consuming and tiring. But it will get done and it will be great!!

So on to an early morning of doing. 

The Fab Slab

A slab is a slab, no more no less. But it is a huge progression from an idea to conception. So for all intensive purposes, a shed will got there. Approx 8 by 10 feet, clearly under any permit needing specs. We are going from the slab...to the shed on Saturday.
It is the next step in downsizing and moving from being beholden to a shop owner to actually just being self reliant. Success or not... We will see how it goes. So the blog is short the the message is huge.

Jesus the gardener

 A little inside joke between the BF and I, Jesus the gardener. Picked this up at a close friend estate sale. It is plastic, three dimensional, metal frame and fabulously kitsch. Everyone need one in their home, I think.
Other items that were purchased was stackable Tupperware shakers harvest colors, aluminum chair with wood slats, numerous pans, crocheted trivets with bottle caps.

They are also fab kitsch but loads of hard work. 

Also pick up 2 keys for clocks, children's book, pie basket, vintage metal Back and Decker tool box

Fun stuff and I am sure there is more I have forgotten. The entire haul was $20 and my time and of coarse there are things I got additionally for our family. 

Got a list of have tons this morning so must be on our way!!

The long weekend

It is Memorial weekend, which meant a car show in town, eating al fresco and all that other stuff that goes with it. For me it means another day. Sounds depressing but not really. It means I have an extra day of potential help. 

Goals for today:

Finish up a commission

Paint some lamp

Work on some metal boxes

Design new containers in field

Work out potential small garden fencing for no cost

See what unfinished projects I can still complete

Replanting items

And more....

We have the potential for some thunder showers and a little windy weather that can throw a tiny wrench in the works.
