I read an article about the trend of individuals turning their tastes away from antiques and collectibles of the past and only being interested in the minimalist simplicity of the mid century modern and modern furniture and accessories. Pictured was an elderly lonely antique dealer holding up something up an accessory. It made me feel bad, but the truth is young, older, older ebven are buying whatever.
I bought mid-century in the eighties when there was an abundance cheap. I still have many pieces. I find that everyone wants a mix of items. I have an Eames recliner with ottoman in with French deco, mixed with Asian kitsch, handwrought iron, original expressionistic artwork, foundry molds, theatre seats in leopard, 150 year old wood chest from Sweden, etc...
I don't think I am an anomaly, I think I am more the average. I think it all works. Antiques, modern, retro, etc.. It is the curating of these items that really matters. How do they make you feel, how does it play with your senses. I may be coming from jaded place but I follow all trends and appreciate and learn from other people's aesthetic.

Something for everyone
but as I look at the trend, there you have it. Rusty but not dead, primitive but functional, farm-like but no smelly animals and their care. I have thought about getting a goat and renting it out for yard maintenance but then I would have something new to worry about.
But there is one endeavor that I feel people really do like and that is anything having to do with their chickens. Cute sayings, cute chicken coops, cute whatever. I guess I fall into that too with my need for a better coop and naming them. Who names a hen "Bob"? Well we do or Wes did. So as I make my plans for the day, I think about the needs, desires, the whims of the masses. The hoy polio.
I think I will make a big egg sign.... :p

So we took a drive....
So we took a drive..... This should be the start of a story but it really it was a reprieve from working on a multitude of things. From being home and trying to get projects underway to figuring out the new landscape, it was a time to get a short break.
Chris took the opportunity to fish the aquaduct, I just needed to get out. The skies were big, beautiful and the air still. It could have been a journey to Antiques @ the Barn, but I physically was not in a place to walk around that smelly endeavor. So we just went out and tripped the light fandango for a couple of hours.
Enough to recharge a battery I suppose.

Sad sad sad
Sad
Sad
Sad....
So I pulled this from the rafters of my neighbors house. I was shocked by the sad state of affairs this once awesome table was in. But it can come back. I am sure of it, I hope. First I have to get past the decades of dust and I probably have junta virus. Just kidding. I needed to bring down and kind of dust off. Then I needed fresh air. Today I want to research its origins. So fingers crossed :)

Random
Random Sunday..... Waiting on coffee, waiting on toast, waiting for the day to begin. Yesterday had a good day. Picked up my friend Alexis to go down to a organized communal yard sale event in Bakersfield. Picked up: metal rusty table $7, pair of new Tom's free, retro box with vintage blue chip stamps etc $5, Griswold square pan $10, 2 window sill vintage planters $6, vintage garden tools $2, 1930's feed sack $1. Great haul- three things already sold.

A Cog with a Blog
So today i am a Cog. Something in the workings of a task. Chris G had his med out patient appointments today. We went to eat and then a nursery. Just went from task to task. A Cog. Perhaps or perhaps not. Tomorrow i have a ritual of tasks as well as then maybe a day of rest, not!
I will be ordering my new shed for our pop up shopping. It is something to move on and be excited. So done with many others choices or confines. I will expound more on the details in the next few days.
Back to my cogly life :p
